As a special edition to the 2007 Annual Production Conference, PMCA’s Program committee honored, via the Hans Dresel Memorial Award, the outstanding work done by the World Cocoa Foundation (WCF). To highlight this recognition, PMCA will host one of the WCF program’s outstanding “Farmer Trainers”, who is currently manager of the cocoa sector of a USAID funded project in Northern Ecuador.

World Cocoa Foundation (WCF) programs are helping cocoa farmers, their families and the communities in which they live. These programs are addressing some of the challenges facing cocoa farming families such as crop loss, outdated farming methods and access to markets. Another program affiliated with WCF is Farmer Field Schools (FFS). FFS uses discovery learning and participatory techniques to empower farmers to improve their quality of liife using the cocoa tree.
